BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Med-Care Diabetic & Medical Supplies, Inc., a leading wellness company founded on the highest principles of patient care and service, announced today a new partnership with Best Buddies International. As part of the partnership, Med-Care will donate $100,000 to support Best Buddies, a nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities for friendship, employment and leadership training for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Additionally, Med-Care will work to raise additional funds through vendors and partners and participate in the Best Buddies International Jobs program in Palm Beach.
“Med-Care’s generous donation to Best Buddies will help to create jobs and leadership opportunities for our special friends with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Founder and Chairman of Best Buddies International. “We are thrilled that Med-Care will also be the first company in the area to be matched with skilled and qualified individuals from our new Best Buddies Jobs program in Palm Beach. We hope that other local businesses will follow Med-Care’s lead.”
Best Buddies International Jobs program matches skilled and qualified individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with businesses searching for enthusiastic and dedicated employees. The program develops partnerships with employers, assists with the hiring process, and provides ongoing support to the employee and employer.
“Anthony inspired us to get involved with Best Buddies. It was important for us to make a sizable monetary donation that would have a real impact on the organization – but we also wanted to get involved in a more personal way by participating in the Best Buddies Job program,” said Dr. Steven Silverman, Founder and CEO of Med-Care. “We recently announced that we are hiring 250 employees at our new headquarters in Boca Raton and, as part of these plans, we are committed to welcoming several Best Buddies participants to our Med-Care family.”
