Mark Friedlander Elected President of IMCA

Association’s Board Officers and Directors Announced for 2014-2015

MINNEAPOLIS--()--The Insurance Marketing & Communications Association (IMCA) (www.imcanet.com) announced the election of Mark Friedlander of The Main Street America Group as President of its board of directors. The association also announced its 2014-2015 officers and other board members, which include four new directors.

Friedlander, who has been a member of IMCA since 2005, has served on the association’s board since 2008. His previous officer roles on the IMCA board have included executive vice president and treasurer.

Friedlander is the head of corporate communications at The Main Street America Group, a super-regional property/casualty insurance carrier based in Jacksonville, FL. His communications career also includes senior management roles at Arthur Andersen LLP, Prudential Financial and HSBC North America. Friedlander began his career as a sports reporter and editor covering the National Football League and Big 10 Conference.

Friedlander is very active in the insurance industry and local community. In addition to his IMCA leadership role, he is a member of the Trusted Choice® Company Partner Advisory Board, the IIABA Council for Best Practices, and the Communications Committee of the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS). Additionally, he is a member of the Dean’s Education Advisory Council at the University of North Florida.

Friedlander earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism/public relations at The Ohio State University.

Anna Hargis, Director of advertising at Shelter Insurance, was elected executive vice president of the IMCA board; Emily Hathcoat, assistant vice president, marketing at CNA, was elected treasurer of the board.

Joining the IMCA board as directors are John Abbott, director of agency communications at Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company; Angela Kim, director of marketing and business development at Allstate Business Insurance; Lauri Klotz, marketing and communications for Risk Placement Services Inc. and John Reints, manager of digital communications and CRM Systems at CAMICO Mutual Insurance.

“As outgoing president, I am very confident in our new leadership team and mix of new and veteran board members,” said immediate past president Rob Martin of the Co-operators, who will remain on IMCA’s executive committee. “I am confident they will continue to build on the successful year IMCA has had, and bring some great new ideas and opportunities forward.”
