ANAHEIM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fairmont Preparatory Academy students aspiring to be global business leaders will have a unique opportunity in the upcoming school year to explore international business within the context of culture and ethics. They will be the first students to participate in the school’s new International Business Program. The program, beginning August 19th, prepares motivated 9th- 12th grade students for matriculation into the country’s top universities and develops a strong cultural intelligence to navigate the nuances of global commerce. Project-based courses will allow students to expedite their learning and earn college credits for select courses and honors credit for the majority of courses.
“The International Business Program is an excellent example of how we fulfill our mission to prepare students for success in colleges of quality and challenge them to become exemplary citizens of a global society,” Fairmont Education Group CEO Robertson Chandler said. “Thanks to the insightful input from our International Business Program Advisory Board, Fairmont students will advance ahead of their peers by gaining current and relevant perspectives of the ever-changing international business environment.”
International business experts in Southern California as well as from Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, Ukraine and India played a major role in shaping the program. Through Fairmont Preparatory Academy’s partnership with the Thunderbird University School of Global Management, the internships and a senior year capstone project were modeled after the Thunderbird Emerging Markets Lab. California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, another partner, is creating a college credit course for the program along with internships.
“Fairmont students in the International Business Program will put their skills to the test by participating in real world projects, which will develop a strong cultural intelligence essential for managing emerging global markets,” Mary Hurley, Dean of Advanced Studies, Fairmont Preparatory Academy said.
International Business Program students will engage in coursework dealing with international finance, marketing, management, economics, ethics, entrepreneurship and diplomacy. They will be given opportunities to participate in international and domestic internships, seminars and short college-based learning experiences.
Students in the program will also examine the influence of culture on management practices in a global context, managerial competence in multicultural groups in international corporations, execution of global strategies, development of global managers, and how to influence change in global organizations alongside issues of personal integrity. They will also receive academic and college counseling guidance by an advanced programs counselor.
