LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--This weekend, Thomas Cook stores across Surrey and Greater London will be coming out in force to offer support for Team Sunny Hearters, the group of 8 cyclists who will be taking part in Prudential’s Ride London event, aiming to raise over £100K on behalf of Whizz-Kidz and the Thomas Cook Children’s Charity.
12 Thomas Cook stores along the Ride London route from Stratford, and as far South as Guildford, will be opening their doors on Sunday to offer cakes, refreshments and other fun fundraising activities to help CEO Harriet Green (@harrietgreen1) reach the £100K goal, and cheer on Team Sunny Hearters as they progress through the 100 mile course.
The 8-strong team come from varying backgrounds and abilities, and with 6 members from the Greater London area, staff at local Thomas Cook stores will have an extra incentive to cheer on their company’s CEO, and to offer their good wishes to fellow local residents.
“I am so thankful for all of the backing being offered by our stores along the journey,” said Harriet Green, CEO for Thomas Cook Group plc. “I want to pass on my personal thanks to everyone who has donated so far to the wonderful causes of both our own Thomas Cook Children’s Charity and Whizz-Kidz, a fantastic organisation which works tirelessly to transform the lives of disabled children throughout the United Kingdom. I hope everyone taking part in the event has an amazing time, and that all riders are able to reach their goals, regardless of which charity they are supporting.”
"It has been so encouraging to see the wonderful success of Team Sunny Hearters’ fundraising activities so far" said Joanna Wild, Chairman of the Thomas Cook Children’s Charity. "It is really lovely to see how Thomas Cook stores have offered their support for our fantastic cyclists this weekend by not only opening their doors on Sunday, but also for coming up with such a wide range of exciting ideas, from exercise bike racing and special cake baking to text donations and live tweeting, to help our local communities celebrate this great event. Fundraising of this size will make a real difference to the children that Thomas Cook Children’s Charity and Whizz-Kidz support."
