PORT TOWNSEND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Intellicheck Mobilisa, Inc. (NYSE MKT:IDN), a global leader in identity solutions and wireless security systems, has been awarded a contract to provide two of its TWIC Plus IM2620 identification card readers to the Port of Cleveland in Ohio.
The contract is for a web-hosted TWIC reading system, similar to the one the Company recently provided to the Port of Portland in Oregon. The readers will provide TWIC card authentication for reporting purposes to keep track of which personnel are entering the facility at specific times.
Intellicheck Mobilisa recently launched a cloud-based business model providing hosted software solutions instead of installing software directly onto the customer’s computer servers. Hosting the software allows easier integration and better customer support. The new cloud-based service allows updates to be installed instantly, without delays and without need for the customer to spend time and staff hours.
In July 2013, Intellicheck Mobilisa’s IM2620 and IM2610 products became the first mobile readers of TWIC cards to be approved by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The two TWIC reader products passed the TSA’s rigorous testing and are now officially on its Qualified Technology List (QTL) of approved products that ports, ships and other facilities with controlled access should purchase. In addition to reading TWIC cards, these products scan driver’s licenses and military IDs, can match person-of-interest lookups with law enforcement lists and authorized lists, and are capable of integrating with existing port security systems.
Dr. Nelson Ludlow, CEO of Intellicheck Mobilisa, said, “The Port of Cleveland is a major driver of the economy in the Great Lakes region, and handles an average of between 11 million and 16 million tons of cargo annually. We believe our TWIC reader technology is capable of providing an added layer of security to port operations and port personnel.”
Kimberly Chochon, Vice President of Port Security Sales at Intellicheck Mobilisa, added, “We are once again grateful for the opportunity to demonstrate the power and versatility of our TWIC readers, and believe their performance will reflect the quality of the engineering involved in their manufacture.”
