MALVERN, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced that Vishay HiRel Systems LLC has earned the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001:2004 certification for three of its plants: Dover, New Hampshire; Duluth, Minnesota; and the Dominican Republic. All three ISO 14001:2004 registration audits were conducted by UL DQS Inc., and the sites were certified for the design and manufacture of power supplies and magnetic devices.
ISO 14001:2004 is a global specification covering the processes and practices necessary to limit environmental impact through significantly reduced energy and raw materials consumption, as well as lower production of waste materials. Certification requires an organization to identify the environmental impact of its operations, document controls that are in place, and take a systematic approach to continuously improving its environmental performance.
At Vishay HiRel’s Dover, Duluth, and Dominican Republic plants, the company manufactures and tests custom high-reliability power supplies, custom magnetics, and space-grade magnetics, including inductors, antenna coils, and transformers. By producing these components to the stringent requirements set by ISO 14001:2004, the company is demonstrating its commitment to conserving resources and decreasing its impact on the environment.
