New Sam’s Club to Open in Oxford this Thursday

Grand opening celebration to feature special guests and incredible savings

OXFORD, Ala.--()--Sam’s Club will open its Oxford club at 1900 Oxford Exchange Blvd. following an 8 a.m. Grand Opening ceremony Thursday, July 24. The membership warehouse club will bring 170 jobs to the community and will give residents and small business owners the opportunity to access incredible deals and amazing finds on quality merchandise, including products made in Alabama.

“We are thrilled to invite members into this new club, built with the needs of Oxford in mind,” said Club Manager Tarah Pounders. “The community has been extremely supportive of Sam’s Club and we look forward to becoming the club of the community.”

In that giving spirit, Oxford associates selected several local organizations to receive more than $23,000 in community giving grants. In the last fiscal year, Sam’s Club, and parent company Walmart, gave more than $25 million to non-profits in the state of Alabama. The following local organizations will be presented checks prior to Thursday’s grand opening:

Grand Opening ceremony features local officials, special events

Mayor Leon Smith will be among those speaking at Thursday’s Grand Opening ceremony. Additionally, members of the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce will be participating in a ribbon cutting ceremony.

During the Grand Opening, Sam’s Club will showcase a variety of food samples and product demonstrations. Special guests include Alabama innovator Travis Perry who was featured on season three of the ABC hit TV show, “Shark Tank.” Perry is the inventor of the guitar gadget “ChordBuddy” which is designed to teach anyone how to play guitar by simply pushing color-coded buttons. Perry will be demonstrating the product Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Grand Opening Weekend will also feature a book signing on Saturday with Alabama native and cookbook author Stacy Harris. She will be signing copies of her book “Recipes & Tips for Sustainable Living” on Saturday, July 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. Former Auburn University and NFL linebacker Takeo Spikes (Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers & San Diego Chargers) will also be making a special guest appearance on Saturday, July 26 from 2 to 4 p.m.

A number of health and wellness services will also be available including:

  • Free health screenings will be offered for both members and the public monthly. Grand opening screenings will assess cholesterol, blood pressure, vision, hearing and a variety of other wellness areas, and will run July 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and July 25 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The Sam’s Club Pharmacy, which is open to the public, features many $4 and $10 generic prescriptions.
  • The Optical Center offers $40 off each additional pair of regularly priced prescription eyeglasses with the purchase of a complete pair of eyeglasses at regular price.
  • The Hearing Aid Center features premium technology in hearing aids and personal listening devices.
