NEC Has Lowest 5-Year Total Cost of Ownership and Achieves Highest Overall Score in Enterprise Connect Unified Communications RFP

Leading independent consultant David Stein gives NEC’s UC solution Top Score in subjective rankings that include pricing

IRVING, Texas--()--NEC Corporation of America (NEC), a leading provider and integrator of advanced IT and communications solutions, received the highest overall score in the annual Unified Communications mock request for proposal (RFP) session, “UC RFP and Review: Enterprise Communications Platform—Premise VS. Cloud-Based IP Telephony,” held at the Enterprise Connect Conference in Orlando. NEC presented its solution for unified communications alongside multiple other vendors, and achieved the lowest five-year Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and the highest overall score in the “subjective with pricing” category.

“NEC provided a strong UC solution that excelled in many of the RFP categories. With excellent functionality and recent U.S. DoD certified security, we felt the NEC solution was well-deserving of the accolades received,” said David Stein, principal, Stein Technology Consulting Group, and facilitator of the RFP session. “NEC received extremely high marks in all categories. Its solution provides the flexibility and scalability we were looking for in this competition.”

The RFP session provides a simulation and RFP for unified communications vendors,* based on those that enterprises and government agencies put out for bidding each year. Competitors are allowed to respond to the mock “Enterprise Connect Company” with the solution of their choice. Each solution’s functions—such as high availability, core voice utility, voicemail, unified messaging, unified communications (e.g. presence, IM, voice, Web, video conferencing) and system administration—are assessed. These factors were scored on a weighted scale along with TCO (ranked over a five-year period).

This year marked the first year that both on-premises and cloud solutions were combined for an overall UC RFP. Also new to this year's session was the introduction of panel discussions that covered topics such as integration issues, deployment issues, and how vendors decide what to propose (cloud vs. premises).

“NEC has consistently ranked at or near the top in delivering value to its customers in multiple TCO comparisons,” said Larry Levenberg, VP, NEC Corporation of America. “We are pleased that one of the most significant end user conferences has validated NEC’s functional and economic advantages.”
