PASADENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Christie, Parker & Hale LLP (CPH), one of Southern California’s leading intellectual property law firms announced that the firm was instrumental in obtaining a major patent for its client Wallner Tooling/Expac, Inc. of Rancho Cucamonga, California.
U.S. Pat. No. 8,696,781, is directed to a filter including an innovative expanded metal which Wallner markets under its brand name "X-Mesh".
"X-Mesh is the evolution of expanded metal used in the pleated filter industry. By changing the orientation of the mesh profile by over expanding, less metal is required and its performance and rigidity is greatly enhanced," noted Mike Wallner, CEO of Wallner.
"By over expanding, the short way diamond of the X-Mesh is elongated and offers an increase in the structural rigidity of the material, all while arranging the strands in the direction most favorable for pleating. As the material is united with the filter media, its ability to fold and hold the media increases while it decreases the likelihood of a failed pleat pack during use," commented Constantine "Gus" Marantidis, the CPH partner who successfully prosecuted the patent, and who is overseeing the prosecution of multiple patents directed to this technology in the U.S. and abroad.
