HOUSTON--()--Norton Rose Fulbright will participate in the BP MS 150 annual charity bike ride on April 12-13, when the global legal practice will comprise the biggest first-year team in the ride’s 30-year history.

The BP MS 150, which benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, is the largest bike ride for multiple sclerosis in North America, with an estimated 13,000 cyclists taking part in the two-day, 180-mile ride from Houston to Austin, Texas.

The Norton Rose Fulbright team comprises 147 lawyers and professionals from 24 offices spanning the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia, South Africa and the Middle East. Norton Rose Fulbright’s team will fund its own travel and expenses.

Adrian Ahern, Global Chairman, Norton Rose Fulbright, said:

“The BP MS 150 is our primary global charitable initiative for 2014, and it is fantastic to see all of Norton Rose Fulbright rally behind this important charity. Our international team of cyclists is collectively traveling hundreds of thousands of miles to participate in a challenging, yet rewarding weekend, all using frequent flyer points accumulated across Norton Rose Fulbright to travel to and from the US for the ride.”

To date, Norton Rose Fulbright lawyers and professionals have raised more than $300,000 for MS charities worldwide, including more than $100,000 for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. A primary fundraising initiative – “The Challenge 150” – was an exercise in which Norton Rose Fulbright participants around the world raised money by completing a task 150 times – everything from making 150 crafts to taking 150 photographs of landmarks.

In the US, fundraising efforts included Valentine's Day candygrams, raffles, pizza lunches and t-shirt sales. A gala dinner and auction raised money for MS charities in the London office, which also organized a stationary bike fundraiser and trivia contests. Norton Rose Fulbright raised money in South Africa by hosting a hospitality tent at a major cycle race in Cape Town. Fundraising bake sales were also held in the US, UK, Australia, Canada and Russia.

Linda Addison, US Managing Partner, Norton Rose Fulbright, said:

“We are proud of all those at Norton Rose Fulbright who have given their time and money to such a worthy cause. Our various fundraisers over the past several months have brought us closer, and we are excited for the ride next weekend.”
