ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The HR Certification Institute (the Institute), the internationally recognized certifying body for the HR profession, announced today that Thomas Nordby has joined the organization as its Chief Operating Officer (COO).
“We are excited to welcome an executive who holds the broad range of experience that Thomas brings to the Institute to our leadership team,” said Amy Schabacker Dufrane, Ed.D., SPHR, CAE, executive director for the Institute. “His expertise complements our existing staff’s well and will be an asset as we work together to steer the growth and expansion of our portfolio of certifications. Nordby was most recently the assistant vice president of business operations at the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), where his functional responsibilities spanned finance, administration, IT, customer service and marketing. He also has held positions with the DC Bar Association, the Maryland Bar Association and the South Carolina Bar Association.

Nordby holds his CAE, and is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). He also served on the board of the Finance and Administration Roundtable (FAR). Nordby earned an undergraduate degree in Business and Political Science in Norway and holds his Master’s Degree in Communications from the University of South Carolina.
