OVERLAND PARK, Kan. & SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sprint (NYSE: S), one of the only U.S. wireless carriers to offer unlimited talk, text and data, today announced that it is working with Pogoplug to add unlimited cloud storage to its suite of unlimited services. Sprint customers can now access 5GB of cloud storage for no additional charge through Pogoplug, with the option to upgrade to unlimited storage for only $4.99 per month.
Beginning Jan. 27, Sprint iPhone and Android™ smartphone users can download Pogoplug to their device, giving them one secure place to store and organize personal photos, videos, music and more. With Pogoplug, Sprint customers can automatically back up important content, access their files from any Web-enabled device, and seamlessly migrate or switch devices, without losing any content.
All Sprint smartphone customers will receive 5GB of cloud storage for no additional charge, or they may upgrade to unlimited storage for $4.99 per month, which will be added to their monthly bill from Sprint. Pogoplug can easily be downloaded from Sprint Zone, the Apple App Store or Google Play.
“Whether our subscribers have one device or several devices, everyone craves the flexibility to access all of their content from virtually anywhere at any time,” said Mike McRoberts, director-Product Development, Sprint. “Our new relationship with Pogoplug creates a seamless experience for our customers. With unlimited cloud storage, our customers can easily back up, access and share all their photos and videos from almost anywhere, eliminating the headaches around running out of space or losing an important memory.”
Sprint’s Pogoplug cloud offering is the only unlimited service in the market and provides customers a significant savings when compared to competitors’ capped storage and data plans. By comparison, AT&T only offers up to 5GB of free storage and Verizon customers only get 125GB of storage for around $120 per year – which could incur additional data fees if the customer is on a capped plan.
“Sprint champions unlimited service, simplicity and customer value, all core tenets of the Pogoplug cloud platform,” said Daniel Putterman, CEO, Pogoplug. “As mobile devices continue to permeate daily life and become our primary means of communicating and sharing conversations, photos and videos, we believe that everyone should be able to automatically store their entire mobile life in one place.”
