MEQUON, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Titan Spine, a medical device surface technology company focused on developing innovative spinal interbody fusion implants, today announced the Company is sponsoring a physician education workshop at the Deutsche Wirbelsäulengesellschaft (DWG) German Spine Conference, taking place December 5-7, 2013 in Frankfurt, Germany.
The workshop underscores Titan’s commitment to physician education and aims to educate surgeons on the science and design rationale of its proprietary surface technology, outline clinical results with two spinal interbody fusion devices from its Endoskeleton® product line and highlight outcomes from surgeon case studies. Ultimately the goal is to facilitate thought-provoking discussions on spinal interbody device surface technology among leading surgeons.
The workshop titled, “Enhancing Interbody Fusion Through Novel Surface Technology: Basic Science and Clinical Results” will take place Friday, December, 6 at 13:00 – 14:30 CET and will be led by renown spine surgeons Dr. Axel Reinhardt of Potsdam, Germany, a member of Titan’s Key Opinion Leader Advisory Team, and Dr. Alexander Kirgis of Munich, Germany.
Dr. Axel Reinhardt, Head of the Department of Spinal Surgery at the Specialized Orthopaedic Hospital in Potsdam, Germany said, “I am excited to collaborate with Titan Spine and fellow members of the Key Opinion Leader Advisory Team to support the education of surgeons on the Company’s surface technology and outline its positive integration into spinal care within my practice. With the ability to actively participate in the fusion process, Endoskeleton devices exhibit unique characteristics that have been shown to positively impact patient outcomes.”
The full line of Endoskeleton® devices features Titan’s proprietary implant surface technology, consisting of a unique combination of roughened topographies at the macro, micro, and cellular levels. The combination of surface levels is designed to create an optimal host-bone response and actively participate in the fusion process by promoting new bone growth, encouraging natural production of bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) and creating the potential for a faster and more robust fusion.
