BROADCAST TELEVISION STATIONS ACROSS THE U.S. ALIGN FOR MAJOR MARKETING CAMPAIGN IN SUPPORT OF DYLE® MOBILE TV

Pearl, NBC, FOX, ION, and Sinclair Team Up For 12 Week Cross-Promotional Campaign to Provide Live, Local TV to Users on the Go

Dyle® mobile TV, operated by Mobile Content Venture (MCV), a joint-venture of 12 major broadcast groups, today announced the launch of a major marketing campaign to boost awareness of exciting new technology that expands opportunities for people to watch TV on the go. Through a number of on-air, digital and live interactive events, stations in 12 markets have committed to promoting the Audiovox mobiletv receiver, which allows consumers to turn their smartphones and tablets into portable televisions.

Beginning October 28, 2013 and running through January 19, 2014, MCV stations from Pearl, NBC, FOX, and ION, as well as stations from Sinclair, Univision, and CBS will actively cross-promote the emerging mobile TV technology along with the recently announced Audiovox device across key 12 markets. The marketing push will involve cross-promotional efforts throughout the following U.S. cities:

  • Atlanta, GA
  • Charlotte, NC
  • Cincinnati, OH
  • Dallas, TX
  • Detroit, MI
  • Houston, TX
  • Jacksonville, FL
  • Kansas City, MO
  • Miami, FL
  • Orlando, FL
  • Phoenix, AZ
  • West Palm Beach, FL

“NAB applauds the efforts of local TV stations who have embraced mobile TV and will be aggressively marketing the new Audiovox device,” said National Association of Broadcasters President and CEO Gordon Smith. “Broadcasters are committed to delivering live and local television to on-the-go viewers, and we look forward to the continued evolution of our programming to new receivers and multiple platforms.”

The news marks a pivotal point for Dyle, as it has been producing mobile TV-enabled products since August 2012. With Dyle® mobile TV, consumers can turn their smartphones and tablets into portable televisions with no impact to their data plan, and without the need for Internet or 3G/4G. The initiative has continued to gain traction, securing expansion into new markets, stations and OEM manufacturers.

The addition of the Audiovox mobiletv receiver marks a crucial expansion to physical retailers, giving consumers an additional way to purchase Dyle mobile TV, and displays that the broadcast industry is continuing to innovate. Audiovox mobiletv is available at select regional, national and online retailers including Radio Shack, BrandsMart U.S.A., ABC Warehouse and Amazon.com. MSRP on the device is $129.99.

“This initiative we are undertaking with our market partners demonstrates their commitment in helping to drive greater adoption of ways we can leverage live, local viewing of our favorite programming,” said Salil Dalvi and Erik Moreno, co-general managers, Mobile Content Venture. “We are still in the early phases of this movement and as we continue to deliver new innovations to market, we believe the foundations we have built will prove fruitful for the entire broadcasting industry.”
