2013 CEA Industry Forum to Feature Holiday Sales Trends and Five Techs to Watch, High-Level Keynoters and CE Hall of Fame Dinner

The 2013 Consumer Electronics Association’s (CEA)® Industry Forum connects and informs leaders in the consumer electronics industry and showcases the latest innovations that are trending, disrupting and impacting the way we do business. This year’s forum has three distinct themes: the intersection of technology and content, disruptive technology and research, making it a must attend for industry influencers.


The 2013 CEA Industry Forum is scheduled October 20-23 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles, California. Industry Forum highlights include:


The Intersection of Technology and Content


-- Keynote: Mike Dunn, President, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, will introduce the current collaborative innovations in Digital HD that are moving the business of digital distribution and storage forward at 10:45 a.m. on October 21.


-- The Ultra High-Definition Evolution: Industry experts will explore how Ultra HD content is being created and delivered through digital imaging, motion pictures and television at 2 p.m. on October 21.


-- CEA’s Annual Meeting and Luncheon Keynote: Robert Scoble, Liaison Officer, Rackspace; American Blogger, Technology Evangelist and Author will discuss the impact the “age of context” has on the consumer electronics industry from 11:45 a.m.-1:45 p.m. on October 22.


Disruptive Technology


-- 3D Printing – Prototyping A New Industry: A discussion about the positive and negative implications of the rapid prototyping and manufacturing made possible by 3D printing at 2 p.m. on October 22.


-- Start Me Up – The Future of CE: CE leaders will discuss the future of the CE industry with VCs who are building portfolios of top tech startups at 3:15 p.m. on October 22.


-- Keynote: Dale Dougherty, Founder, MAKE Magazine and Maker Faires, will explain how the “maker movement” is disrupting the traditional manufacturing landscape at 11:45 a.m. on October 21.


-- Keynote: Bill Tai, Partner, Charles River Ventures, and CoFounder, MaiTai Kite Camp, will explore what’s trending in the next startup wave with a panel of small businesses, startups and entrepreneurs at 3:15 p.m. on October 21.


Research and Trends


-- Five Technologies to Watch: Industry experts and CEA analysts provide a glimpse into the five technology trends to watch over the next two to five years at 9:30 a.m. on October 21.


-- 2013 Holiday Sales and Forecast: CEA’s Annual CE Holiday Purchase Patterns study will be unveiled at 9:30 a.m. on October 22.


-- Know Your Customers: Tech Retail Trends of Women, Teens and Seniors: This session will delve into the purchasing habits of women, teens and seniors to examine how they adopt technology and make buying decisions at 10:45 a.m. on October 22.


The 2013 CEA Industry forum will also host The CE Hall of Fame Dinner. Open to press, this dinner takes place on Tuesday evening, October 22, from 7-9:30 p.m. New inductees will be honored for their historic contributions to the consumer electronics industry.
