SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AlephCloud, a startup developing a new technology for managing content security and privacy in public clouds, today announced that it will demonstrate AlephCloud Content Canopy at DEMO Fall 2013 on October 16 and 17 at Kiosk S4. Content Canopy enables organizations to seamlessly secure and audit usage of content in public cloud sharing services including Box, Dropbox and Google Drive. AlephCloud was founded by CEO Jieming Zhu, the former chief technologist for HP Storage, and Roy D’Souza who was an architect of the Microsoft Azure Trust Services.
Managing security and privacy for content stored in consumer share and sync services and accessed on BYOD devices is a major challenge for organizations, especially those in regulated industries. For example, in the insurance sector it is common for agents and customer service representatives to routinely exchange large files via email attachments. Cloud sharing services are an ideal alternative to this practice, but only if they can meet separate compliance mandates that govern commercial and personal insurance lines of business. Content Canopy provides transparent encryption that integrates with Box, Dropbox, etc., yet is a separate, auditable policy enforcement system.
“Cloud file sharing services and the ubiquitous use of personal access devices are making container-based approaches to security and audit useless,” said Jieming Zhu, CEO of AlephCloud. “To maintain privacy, control and compliance, organizations must attach security to the content itself. At DEMO Fall will demonstrate an approach the can transparently secure any file on any cloud share and sync service without forcing employees to change the way they work.”

Based in Sunnyvale, CA, AlephCloud has developed a transparent new approach for managing content privacy and provenance in public clouds.
