NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Quirky, the product development company, today announces that creative leader and former frog design President Doreen Lorenzo will join Quirky as President to help grow the invention machine.
Doreen will lead research, design, and product development at Quirky alongside Ben Kaufman, Founder and CEO, who will continue to oversee the Company’s vision and its mission to make invention accessible.
Doreen joined frog in 1997 and served as its President for the past seven years. She drove frog’s strategy, oversaw its worldwide operations, and was instrumental in taking it from a traditional design boutique to one of the world’s foremost global innovation firms.
In addition to her years building an interdisciplinary design business while maintaining a passionate company culture, Doreen has served as a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Emerging Technologies, and has become an internationally recognized thought leader on innovation and design.
“Doreen knows how to guide a creative organization through intense growth while keeping its spirit alive,” says Ben Kaufman. “She also knows how to manage the increased complexity that comes with growth, and as Quirky moves into more sophisticated categories like smart home, her role in making this machine grow will be key.”
Quirky has spawned a global community of collaborative designers that allows everyday people to bring their product ideas to life. This mix of design expertise and community leads to the development of three new products every week. Doreen’s passion for fostering growth and ingenuity will fuel Quirky’s expansion.
Doreen says, “I’m excited to join Quirky and become part of a movement that gives people access to design, allowing them to pursue it in a collaborative way. I’ll be working closely with Ben to harness the power of this collective to build the best inventions in the world.“
Quirky makes invention accessible. Launched in 2009, the company brings new consumer products to life each week by enabling collaboration between a global community of inventors and an in-house team of designers and engineers on all aspects of design, from sketch to store shelves. Anyone can participate by submitting product ideas or voting and influencing other people's product ideas on Quirky.com in real time. The company then shares revenue directly with the people who created and influenced the products. Quirky products are available directly from Quirky.com and through national retail partnerships with The Home Depot, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, and Amazon.com.
