The first Hooters opened October 4, 1983, in Clearwater, Fla., by the original “Hooters Six” founders, and the brand has grown to become one of the most successful dining destinations in the world. Hooters is proud of the more than 300,000 Hooters Girl alumnae who have grown into their own lives as mothers, wives, career-minded businesswomen and entrepreneurs, many becoming doctors, lawyers, actors, authors, government officials and community leaders.

“Who would ever guess that the Parcheesi playing fugitives of ‘The Home for the Visually Offensive’ would see their 1983 creation in Clearwater, Fla., become an American icon and international phenomenon?” said Ed Droste, one of the original “Hooters Six” founders. “Certainly not the Hooters Six, who proudly respond, ‘What the heck is an icon?’ Many might say it’s a refreshing beach joint with really great food, an oasis to millions in hundreds of locations in nearly 30 countries worldwide. It could be about witnessing milestones from winning the 1992 Winston Cup Championship to activating the 1995 ‘Washington Get A Grip’ campaign. For all of these collective memories, please accept our 30th anniversary ‘thanks’ to all of you who make it so exciting and heartening to be a part of Hooters. I hope you’ll sit back and enjoy the oasis you helped create, and just remember—you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!”

Hooters has had a monumental 30th anniversary year that will set the tone for the future. Hooters unveiled a new contemporary restaurant design with the remodeled Hooters of Kirby, Texas, and the ground-up prototype Hooters of Slidell, La., just outside of New Orleans. Not only did its locations receive updates, but the beloved “Hootie” logo received a modern makeover, giving the iconic owl a sleek new look that embodies the brand’s contemporary transformation while keeping in line with its iconic heritage. Hooters menus continue to evolve and innovate with a broader offering of fresh salads, sandwiches, seafood dishes and other delicious options through limited time offer menus, like the Gridiron Grub menu for football season. Of course, Hooters continues to offer its world-famous traditional and boneless chicken wings with buffalo sauce favorites, ranging in heat from mild to 911, as well as new signature sauces and rubs on select Hooters menus, such as teriyaki-style samurai, lemon pepper and chipotle honey. In fact, after naming Joey Chestnut the 2013 Hooters World Wing-Eating Champion, America surpassed Hooters all-you-can-eat wing challenge, devouring more than one million wings on National Chicken Wing Day.

To celebrate the nostalgia of the occasion, Hooters will share photos from the past leading to present day Hooters on its Facebook page and social channels. Guests who join in the 30th birthday festivities are encouraged to share their party photos through social channels using the hashtag #StepIntoAwesome.
