KIRKLAND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) today released its Application Accelerator, which is now accessible through the Bluetooth developer website. With major operating systems now offering native Bluetooth Smart support, the Application Accelerator provides a simple way for developers to quickly create Bluetooth enabled applications for Android, Apple, and Windows 8 platforms.
Bluetooth Smart – and its signature low-energy feature – is enabling the Internet of Everything by giving developers a reliable, secure, ubiquitous option for wireless connectivity that can be built into any device for any market. The Bluetooth SIG Application Accelerator helps third-party application developers new to Bluetooth Smart speed the development process, saving time and resources. The kit provides the source code for a service browser tool to interrogate and manipulate a Bluetooth Smart device for its services, characteristics, and attributes. In addition, the kit contains videos and all the base code across iOS, Android 4.3, and Windows 8.1 OS platforms, and can be modified freely to kick-start app development efforts.
The Bluetooth SIG is also hosting a series of one-day worldwide Bluetooth training events in London, UK (18 September), San Jose, CA (3 October), Shanghai, China (14 November), Tokyo, Japan (19 November), Osaka, Japan (21 November), and Seoul, South Korea (26 November). Available to anyone interested in learning about Bluetooth technology, the program provides insight into Bluetooth technology basics, including architecture, core specifications, Bluetooth Smart technology, and profile and service updates.
“The Bluetooth SIG proudly supports the creation, testing and marketing of all Bluetooth products. As developers begin to reimagine what’s possible with wireless, we want to foster that creativity by providing them with the tools they need to innovate with Bluetooth technology,“ said Suke Jawanda, Bluetooth SIG CMO. “Our Application Accelerator was built to enable any developer, from anywhere in the world, to connect anything with Bluetooth technology, and is just the beginning of the support developers can expect to see from the Bluetooth SIG.”
The Application Accelerator and training series are elements of the SIG’s larger developer program, which assists developers in all phases of creating applications and devices that use Bluetooth technology. The online Bluetooth Developer Portal provides resources on Bluetooth specifications, profile overviews, updates and more, and is accessed by visiting www.developer.bluetooth.org.
