Opus Community Foundation Announces 15 Grant Awards to Charitable Organizations in Washington

EVERETT, Wash.--()--Opus Bank (“Opus” or the “Bank”) and Opus Community Foundation (the “Foundation”) announced today the Foundation’s approval of 15 grant awards to charitable organizations that the Bank and Foundation believe will have an immediate and long lasting impact on efforts to rebuild and strengthen its communities. The initiatives receiving the Foundation’s financial support create enrichment and advancement opportunities that directly improve the lives of individuals and families in the communities Opus Bank serves.

The Foundation has awarded grants to 15 nonprofit organizations in Washington that focus on community health and human services, safety net services, the arts, and education for at-risk children. These organizations include:

Banchero Friends Services received a grant to support the implementation of a documentation and communications software system, which will provide the ability to create, store, and share web-based medical records for the developmentally disabled adults served by the organization.

Brigid Collins Family Support Center received a grant to support its programs, which provide case management, group therapy, parent-child interactive therapy, crime victim advocacy, and parent education to victims of child abuse and their non-offending family members.

Center for Human Services received a grant to support its Out of School Time Program, which provides afterschool homework assistance, summer learning enrichment camp, and youth leadership opportunities to students in grades K through 12.

Communities in Schools received a grant to support its programs, which provide school site coordinators, tutoring, job shadowing, weekend food packs, hygiene products, clothing, healthcare services, and housing assistance to at-risk students and their families in the Tacoma School District.

Community Action of Skagit County received a grant to support its programs, which provide crisis intervention, housing and shelter, food, health care, job skills services, and community engagement opportunities to low-income members of the area.

LifeWire received a grant to support its programs, which provide advocacy and prevention services, counseling, shelter, and housing and safety net solutions to victims of domestic violence.

Pike Place Market Foundation received a grant to support its programs, which provide social services, food assistance, community safety net funds, and low-income housing to at-risk residents of Seattle’s downtown area.

Seattle Art Museum received a grant to support its community programs, which provide multi-disciplinary introductions to art through inquiry, discussion, and creative problem solving exercises for students in grades K through 12.

Secret Harbor received a grant to support its programs, which provide foster care resources, residential homes, and in-home family services to abused and neglected low-income children.

The Sophia Way received a grant to support its programs, which provide shelter, case management, life skills training, job search and social services, and permanent housing to homeless women in King County.

Swedish Medical Center Foundation received a grant to support its program, which provides access to healthcare services, expertise, and facilities, as well as health education, to the low-to-moderate income individuals of North King and Snohomish Counties.

Take the Next Step received a grant to support its programs, which provide tutoring, behavioral and emotional counseling, and family dinner sessions to low-income children affected by traumatic childhood experiences.

United Way of Snohomish County received a grant to support two of its programs, which provide peer mentorship to students transitioning into high school, and parent engagement in education for students in grades K through 12.

Village Theatre received a grant to support its programs, which provide an introduction to performing arts and humanities education through theater exposure for students in grades Pre–K through 12.

Wonderland Development Center received a grant to support its programs, which provide speech and occupational therapies, special education, parent and caregiver coaching, family resource coordination, mental health services, mixed-ability playgroups, and transition programs and summer camps to children ages 3 through 5 with developmental disorders.
