Oakland Athletics to Honor George Zimmer’s 25 Years of Support for the Oakland Community During August 16, 2013 Game

George Zimmer to Throw Ceremonial First Pitch

OAKLAND, Calif.--()--The Oakland Athletics will honor George Zimmer for his 25 years of support for the Oakland community at their August 16, 2013 game against the Cleveland Indians. Mr. Zimmer will throw the ceremonial first pitch and visit with Oakland Athletics fans throughout the game.

“On behalf of our players and fans we are very pleased to have George throw out the ceremonial first pitch,” said Michael Crowley, President of the Oakland Athletics. “We thank George for his commitment to our community and his strong support of the Oakland Athletics.”

Mr. Zimmer is a longtime fan of the Oakland Athletics and an active volunteer for numerous Oakland organizations. He serves on the Oakland Zoo’s East Bay Zoo Foundation Board and has been instrumental in its renovation. In addition to his work for the Oakland Zoo, Mr. Zimmer also dedicates his time to the Oakland Boys and Girls Club and education activities through the Zimmer Family Foundation.
