SHELTON, Conn. & HALIFAX, Canada--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Officials from New Castle Hotels and Resorts (NCHR), a leading hotel developer, owner and operator, today announced that the company was named one of the 27 Best Places to Work in Atlantic Canada by Progress magazine and Best Companies Group. The awards presentation was made at a luncheon held yesterday at the Westin Nova Scotian in Halifax.
Now in its seventh year, this survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honour the best employers in Atlantic Canada, benefiting the region's economy, workforce and businesses.
Only companies from across the region (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador), meeting the following requirements were eligible for consideration:
- For-profit, not-for-profit business or government entity;
- Publicly or privately held;
- Have a facility in the Atlantic Canada region;
- In business a minimum of one year.
Each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, and demographics were evaluated for 25 percent of the total score. A survey of approximately 68 percent of the company’s eligible employees accounted for 75 percent of the total score. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Atlantic Canada, analyzed the data and determined the final rankings.
“Awards like this, that reflect employee satisfaction and appreciation for the company’s culture are particularly gratifying,” said Guido Kerpel, Vice President, Canadian Region NCHR. “Many companies offer competitive pay and good benefits, but we work hard to establish a sense of camaraderie and professionalism that clearly resonates with our associates.”
New Castle Hotels and Resorts owns and/or operates seven hotels and resorts in Atlantic Canada including: The Algonquin Resort in St. Andrews, NB; Residence Inn in Moncton, NB; Nova Scotia’s three signature resorts - Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa in Digby, NS; Liscombe Lodge and Conference Center in Liscomb Mills, NS; and Keltic Lodge Resort and Spa in Ingonish, NS; as well as the Hampton Inn and Suites in Dartmouth, NS; and the Westin Nova Scotian in Halifax, NS, with a full-time, year-round workforce of nearly 400. An additional 530 employees work at the resort hotels in season.
New Castle Hotels and Resorts will be profiled in a special publication by Progress magazine distributed in early June and on a CBC special.
