New Castle Hotels and Resorts Recognized as One of 2013 Best Places to Work in Atlantic Canada

SHELTON, Conn. & HALIFAX, Canada--()--Officials from New Castle Hotels and Resorts (NCHR), a leading hotel developer, owner and operator, today announced that the company was named one of the 27 Best Places to Work in Atlantic Canada by Progress magazine and Best Companies Group. The awards presentation was made at a luncheon held yesterday at the Westin Nova Scotian in Halifax.

Now in its seventh year, this survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honour the best employers in Atlantic Canada, benefiting the region's economy, workforce and businesses.

Only companies from across the region (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador), meeting the following requirements were eligible for consideration:

  • For-profit, not-for-profit business or government entity;
  • Publicly or privately held;
  • Have a facility in the Atlantic Canada region;
  • In business a minimum of one year.

Each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, and demographics were evaluated for 25 percent of the total score. A survey of approximately 68 percent of the company’s eligible employees accounted for 75 percent of the total score. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Atlantic Canada, analyzed the data and determined the final rankings.

An additional 530 employees work at the resort hotels in season.
