SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kabam, the leader in the western world for free-to-play core games, and Twitch, the world’s leading video platform and community for gamers, have partnered to bring Kabam’s popular free-to-play games to a wider audience. Beginning in May 2013, Twitch users will be able to click and play various Web and mobile games developed by Kabam as well as third-party titles published by Kabam.
“Twitch users are among the most engaged fans in the gaming industry,” said Kabam Chief Operating Officer Chris Carvalho. “Twitch and its community have pioneered a dramatic change in the industry in how enthusiasts play and communicate about games. Partnering with Twitch is an excellent way for Kabam to get our own popular games, as well as games Kabam publishes for our third-party developer partners, in front of a growing audience.”
Kabam game discovery and gameplay will be exclusively integrated directly in Twitch’s web experience and in Twitch’s iOS and Android apps, including a new “Play Games” section that will allow immediate access to Kabam’s roster of free-to-play titles. Kabam’s games include three of the top 25 grossing apps on iOS and Android, and the seventh highest grossing game franchise of all time, Kingdoms of Camelot.
“Based on the growing appeal of live broadcasting video game content as well as the spectators who tune in, Twitch has become the preeminent destination for gamers on both sides of the camera,” said Kevin Lin, COO of Twitch. “Because this community is based solely on a love of gaming, partnering with Kabam to make their top free-to-play games more accessible to our audience was a great fit and we look forward to seeing the convergence of our audiences.”
Illustrating the popularity of Twitch, earlier this month the company announced record-breaking growth in audience size, content creators and audience engagement. In February, 2013, more than 600,000 unique broadcasters generated in excess of 34 million unique viewers.
