HALIFAX, Nova Scotia--()--Brigus Gold Corp. (“Brigus” or the “Company”) (NYSE MKT: BRD; TSX: BRD) is pleased to report that initial resource expansion drilling on the lower East zone at the Black Fox underground mine is confirming the continuity of high grade gold over significant widths. All of these results are located outside of the current reserves. The drilling is being performed 326 metres (m) below the surface.

"These high grade drilling results show strong continuity while extending the Black Fox orebody for over 200 metres along strike. The orebody remains open for further expansion along strike as well as down dip," said Wade Dawe, Brigus Gold’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “These results demonstrate the excellent potential to significantly expand gold reserves and increase the life of mine at Black Fox.”

Highlighted results include:

The Black Fox orebody remains open at depth and along strike and includes gold reserves to a maximum depth of 500 metres. Orebodies in the region, along the Destor Porcupine Fault, often extend to depths of more than 1,000 metres. The ongoing underground exploration drilling program at the Black Fox mine will drill both along strike and beyond 500 metres depth to continue to expand the underground resource.

Details of the most recent Black Fox mine underground exploration drill holes are listed in Appendix 1 and a longitudinal section map of the Black Fox mine gold reserve and infrastructure showing the location of the drill-hole intercepts is included in Appendix 2.

The Black Fox mine exploration underground drilling was conducted by Forage Boreal of Val-d’Or Quebec and Norex Drilling of Timmins Ontario. Sample analyses were performed by Accurassay Laboratories in their Timmins ISO 17205 registered facility using standard fire assay procedures. The program was supervised by the Brigus Black Fox mine geological department. Intercepts cited do not necessarily represent true widths, unless otherwise noted. Brigus Gold’s quality control checks include insertion of blanks, standards and duplicates to ensure laboratory accuracy. Senior Exploration Project Manager John A. Dixon, P. Geo., reviewed the technical exploration information in this release as the Qualified Person for the Company.
