Kohl’s Department Stores Opens Nine New Stores

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis.--()--Kohl’s Department Stores (NYSE: KSS) announces the grand openings of nine new stores today, creating approximately 950 jobs nationwide and bringing the company’s store count to 1,155 stores across 49 states. Locations opening today include Decatur, Ala., Danville, Ill., Ames, Iowa, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Minot, N.D., Sherwood, Ore., Hermitage, Pa., Spring Township, Pa. and Denton, Texas.

Store Features

New Kohl’s locations opening today offer convenient store designs and features including: updated checkout stations, newly designed shopping carts and strollers, an expanded customer service area located at the front of the store, Kohl’s Kiosks, electronic signs, Wi-Fi and upgraded fitting rooms with lounges in Misses and Juniors. In addition, eight of the new stores were built according to a prototype that received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification at the Gold level from the U.S. Green Building Council and will pursue LEED certification in the coming months. Features of Kohl’s LEED stores include use of more than 20 percent recycled and 20 percent regionally sourced (by cost) building materials, use of cool white ENERGY STAR-rated roofs and water-efficient landscaping and plumbing fixtures, among many other attributes.
