ATLANTA--()--Angel Oak Capital today announced that Brad Friedlander, Head Portfolio Manager of the Angel Oak Multi-Strategy Income Fund, was named one of the 2013 Rising Stars of Mutual Funds by Institutional Investor News.

The Rising Stars of Mutual Funds are chosen annually by the publishers of Institutional Investor News and represent up-and-comers whose accomplishments in, and contributions to, their firms and the industry make them stand out among their peers and position them as future industry leaders.

Among the specific criteria used by Institutional Investor to select this year’s Rising Stars were an individual must have demonstrated a level of leadership in their profession, be an active contributor to the broader mutual fund community, and have made notable contributions to portfolio returns.

Mr. Friedlander is a co-founder, managing partner and Head Portfolio Manager at Angel Oak Capital, where he is responsible for the management of the entire Angel Oak portfolio of funds.

Angel Oak Multi-Strategy Income seeks total return by principally investing in investment grade and non-investment grade fixed income securities. The value of some mortgage-backed securities may be particularly sensitive to changes in prevailing interest rates, and although the securities are generally supported by some form of government or private insurance, there is no assurance that private guarantors or insurers will meet their obligations. Diversification does not ensure a profit or guarantee against loss.

No investment strategy, including a total return strategy, can ensure a profit or protect against loss. Additionally, investing in a total return strategy may result in underperformance during a bull market.

Given the significant differences between separately managed accounts and mutual funds, investors should consider the differences in expenses, tax implications and the overall objectives between separately managed accounts and mutual funds before investing. Past performance of the strategy/separately managed account is not indicative of future performance of the fund.
