NEW YORK--()--Today, Macy’s (NYSE:M), a founding national sponsor of the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement, announced a celebration to commemorate the 10th National Heart Month with customers across the country through a line-up of events, merchandise and promotions all fashioned to bring awareness and funds to the cause of women’s heart health. Over the past decade, Macy’s has raised $40 million dollars through the generosity and commitment of Macy’s associates and customers to benefit the fight against heart disease.

February is American Heart Month, and Macy’s will show its support through several fashion-focused programs in-store and online, including Macy’s annual Wear Red Sale (Jan. 30 to Feb. 3), and special red dresses by Ellen Tracy, Kensie, and Macy’s exclusive new collection launching this spring, Marilyn Monroe. Each brand will offer a dress in honor of the cause, and all three can be found in select stores and on macys.com in time for National Wear Red Day on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013.

"At Macy's, we are so proud that we have been a national sponsor of Go Red For Women from its inception. From the in-store experiences, social media campaigns, and this year, the magnificent lighting of our Herald Square building red, we are always evolving and finding innovative ways to build support and educate our customers,” says Martine Reardon, Macy’s chief marketing officer. “Since 2004, we have raised $40 million for the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement, helping to fund life-saving research and raise awareness of this preventable disease."

Each year, Macy’s reinforces its dedication to this cause by adding new components to the campaign. This February, new elements will include lighting Macy’s iconic Herald Square building red, hosting “Find Your Red” shopping parties, sharing the message socially through a “Color Your World Red” social media campaign and building on its successful Wear Red Sale and red merchandise. Macy’s hope is to motivate women to get serious about making healthy choices to prevent heart disease.

“Over the past decade, women have been fighting heart disease individually and together with the Go Red For Women movement, and more than 627,000 women’s lives have been saved,” said Ron Haddock, chairman of the board of the American Heart Association. “Through the outstanding efforts of the American Heart Association and others fighting against women’s No. 1 killer, 330 fewer women are dying of heart disease each day."

Wear Red Sale

In honor of American Heart Month and National Wear Red Day, customers wearing red or purchasing a Red Dress pin at Macy’s for $2 will receive a 20 percent discount on a wide assortment of merchandise or 15 percent discount on fine and fashion jewelry and select home items at Macy’s stores from Wednesday, Jan. 30 to Sunday, Feb. 3. New this year, Macy’s will extend the pin sale and accompanying discount an extra 11 days through February 14. One hundred percent of all pin sales are donated to the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement. Additional merchandise exclusions can apply.

Macy’s Exclusive Red Dresses

Macy’s is offering three exclusive red dresses for American Heart Month, including a classic fit in red lace by Kensie, a heart-printed shirt dress by Ellen Tracy, and a sneak preview of an iconic style inspired by a screen legend from Macy’s new Millennial brand launching in March 2013, Marilyn Monroe. Available at select Macy’s stores and on macys.com/gored, these red dresses retail from $59.50 to $119.50, with 10 percent of the purchase price of each dress sold beginning Jan. 30 through Feb. 28 (Kensie) and March 31 (Ellen Tracy, Marilyn Monroe) donated to the American Heart Association.
