CLEVELAND--()--Neuros Medical, Inc., a medical device company, announced the completion of their implantable generator for use in chronic pain applications. The device, named Altius™, delivers their patented high frequency Electrical Nerve Block™ technology for patients suffering from chronic pain.

Device development was led by Dr. Zi-Ping Fang, Chief Technology Officer at Neuros Medical. “I am delighted to reach this key milestone of our technology development,” said Dr. Fang. “The Altius System will enable patients suffering from chronic, intractable pain to utilize a system which is completely implantable and easy to use.”

About one-third the size of an iPhone®, the rechargeable Altius device delivers high frequency electrical nerve block technology to a targeted nerve via an implanted electrode. Patients activate the device with a small remote control, providing on-demand treatment of a chronic pain condition.

“Dr. Fang and the device development team are to be commended for outstanding achievement of this important endeavor,” stated Jon J. Snyder, President and CEO of Neuros Medical. “The completion of Altius sets the stage for safety and efficacy studies to support regulatory authorization to launch this new therapy,” he added.

Neuros Medical is currently conducting a pilot clinical study to evaluate the Company’s patented high frequency Electrical Nerve Block technology for use in acute treatment of pain in the residual limb of amputees. The pilot study will complement the positive first-in-man results in their initial study, where 4 out of 5 patients reported over 50% pain reduction.
