“Verses & Flow” is Nominated for a 2013 NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding Variety Series or Special”

Acclaimed series has become an integral force in showcasing spoken word and music on television

LOS ANGELES--()--“Verses & Flow” has just been nominated for a 2013 NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding Variety Series or Special.” The series, which was created by Walton Isaacson for Lexus and airs on TVOne, has become an important force in showcasing innovative spoken word and music artists across multiple media platforms. The 2013 NAACP Image Awards will be presented live on February 1, 2013 on NBC.

“Having our work recognized by the NAACP is one of the greatest honors we could receive,” states Aaron Walton, co-founder of Walton Isaacson. “We’re equally proud of Lexus’ commitment to showcase young artists who are upholding the rich African-American tradition of expressing relevant and important stories about the human condition through words and music. In just two seasons, “Verses & Flow” has established itself as an important barometer of emerging and established talent. Music artists featured on the show include: Macy Gray, Tyrese, Melanie Fiona, Luke James, Elle Varner, Estelle Carl Thomas, Eric Benet, Tamia, Musiq, Chrisette Michele, Angie Stone, Naturally 7, Estelle, Kem, Marsha Ambrosius, Tank, and Ledisi.

“Verses & Flow” has an impressive list of poets from across the country including: Javon Johnson, PhD., Aaron Samuels, Jon Goode, Georgia Me, Gina Loring, Edwin Bodney, Miles Hodges, Omar Holmon, Tasha Jones, Queen Sheba, Carlos Robson, D'dra White and Prentice Powell. The show recently invited viewers to submit their work for consideration to participate in the series third season.

Poet/actor Omari Hardwick (CSI: Miami, Dark Blue Sparkle, and For Colored Girls) hosted Season Two of “Verses & Flow.”

McMann, Tate & Stephens (the production arm of Walton Isaacson) served as the line production company for “Verses & Flow.” Andrew Logan, the series director and producer, is also enjoying a breakout success as the director of recording artist Jessie J’s smash music video, "Crazy ‘Bout You,” written by multiple Grammy Award winning and Oscar nominated songwriter Diane Warren for The Weinstein Company’s acclaimed film, "Silver Linings Playbook."

Season Three of “Verses & Flow” will begin taping in April 2013.
