CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dossia, a leading Health Management System provider, today announced a strategic alliance with the largest online dermatology service provider in the US, DermLink.md, to offer Dossia users with any dermatology issue a diagnosis remotely within 24 hours. Through the Health Marketplace in the Dossia Health Manager, Dossia users will now have access to DermLink’s actively growing network of online board-certified dermatologists in the United States.
DermLink.md utilizes online dermatology (high quality photography) to help users with any skin condition receive a fast and accurate diagnosis remotely, without visiting the dermatologist’s office. Additionally, DermLink will put users in contact with a dermatologist who accepts the patient’s insurance plan and who is located closest to the patient's home or office in the event that a follow-up visit is required. By offering DermLink’s services to Dossia users, Dossia expects to improve patient care while reducing the number of unnecessary in-office patient visits, leading to significant healthcare cost savings as well as improved access to dermatologists and convenience for consumers.
“Dossia is very pleased to be able to deliver these essential services provided by Dermlink.md to Dossia’s user population,” said Dossia CEO Mike Critelli. “In the past, appointments to the dermatologist office have been both very time intensive and not always cost effective. Additionally, many health plans have very limited networks of approved dermatologists. Dermlink.md enables patients to save time and money by getting a diagnosis in a timely manner, thereby allowing the patient to get the appropriate treatment when they need it.”
“We are extremely excited to offer to all Dossia members easy access to the nation’s top board-certified dermatologists from the convenience of their home or office. Now, instead of waiting an average of four weeks to see a dermatologist, patients can simply download the DermLink.md application, upload a photo of their skin issue (e.g. acne, eczema, psoriasis, rash, mole, hair, nails, genital rash), pay a fee comparable to their co-pay, and within 24 hours receive a diagnosis, treatment plan, and prescription”, said Dr. Jamison Feramisco, MD, PhD, Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of DermLink.md. “It has been an honor and pleasure to partner with Dossia, which offers an impressive user experience of its Dossia Health Manager. We look forward to working with Dossia in providing their corporate employer groups with significant cost savings and enhanced patient care.”
Dossia is continually expanding the Health Marketplace to address the needs and requests of the Dossia community. While users have the opportunity to directly purchase healthcare and well-being products and services through the Health Marketplace, employers may also choose to subsidize specific tools and solutions, and further incent employees and their families to utilize them through the Dossia Health Manager’s rewards system.
The applications currently available in the Health Marketplace cover a range of health and well-being topics, from integrated weight scales and blood pressure cuffs to stress management solutions. The full list of available solutions can be found at http://www.dossia.org/for-developers/ecosystem-solutions.
