CHATSWORTH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Image Entertainment, Inc. has picked up the rights to Jim Gaffigan: Mr. Universe, a stand-up special from the master of such comedic reflection. Observational comedy, at its very best, is a blending of contrasts: alternately sharp and sweet, but always delightfully honest. Being compared to icons such as Seinfeld, Letterman and Carlin – Jim Gaffigan’s view of the world is twisted, undiluted and always insightful. The agreement covers all DVD and transactional digital rights. Bill Bromiley, Chief Acquisitions Officer for Image Entertainment, made today’s announcement.
“We’re extremely pleased to be working with Jim again,” commented Bromiley. “His previous title with us, Beyond the Pale, is one of Image’s best-selling comedy titles of all time.”
Jim Gaffigan’s comedy specials are highly anticipated by his devoted fans, who have made Gaffigan one of the highest grossing stand-up comedians touring today, selling out concert halls across the country. In addition to stand-up appearances on programs such as “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “Conan” (he created the popular animated shorts Pale Force for “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”) and “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” Gaffigan has also played roles ranging from the comedic (“The Flight of the Conchords,” “Bored to Death”) to the dramatic (“That Championship Season” on Broadway).
Shot live in Washington, D.C., this performance features Gaffigan giving his unique post-modern comedic take on such diverse topics as family holidays, fast food, health clubs, Disney World and even those pesky monsters of the sea. Jim Gaffigan: Mr. Universe gives both longtime fans and Gaffigan newcomers lots to laugh about - proving without question, it’s Jim’s world - we just live in it!
