SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--VisiStat, a provider of cloud-based customer intelligence solutions that deliver key business insights for small/medium businesses and enterprises (SMB/SME), today announced that its IP-based solution is the perfect alternative to cookie-based analytics solutions, which are under increased scrutiny as the European Union’s ‘Do Not Track’ law is set to be enforced beginning May 26, 2012. Some experts are also suggesting that the “Do Not Track” law will soon be taking hold in the United States, as well.
The EU regulation will require websites that set cookies to do the following:
- Inform visitors that cookies are being used
- Explain the purpose of the cookies
- Obtain a visitor’s consent to store the cookie on their device
The requirement for sites to provide information about cookie usage is not a new concept. Visitors that wish to block cookies have the ability to do so, but the EU regulation will require websites to obtain visitor consent (opt-in) in order to store cookies on a visitor’s device.
