BOSTON--()--Circle Twelve Inc, maker of collaboration hardware and software products, today announced that it has been named in the report, “Cool Vendors in Imaging and Display Devices, 2012” published by Gartner, Inc., the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company.

The report covers the “fast-growing market sector” of imaging and display devices and profiles companies selected by analysts for their “innovative and intriguing technologies or solutions.” The profile on Circle Twelve highlights its DiamondTouch table product, a tabletop computer interface that uses multi-touch gestures instead of keyboard and mouse and that supports multiple users while uniquely identifying who is touching where.

In addition to Circle Twelve which was selected for the product category of “Surface Computing”, the Gartner report profiles five other imaging and display companies, including: MicroVision for “pico projectors”; LensVector for “autofocus lenses”; InVisage Technologies for “quantum dot image sensors”; PMDTechnologies for “3D time-of-flight sensing”; and Pixel Qi for “sunlight-readable displays”.

“We are proud to be recognized by Gartner and see it as a confirmation of our vision of how tabletop computing can help people collaborate,” said Adam Bogue, President and Founder of Circle Twelve. Bogue explained, “Traditional computer interfaces are designed for individuals, but when people want to meet and work together face-to-face, computers get in the way. Our DiamondTouch product solves that.” Regarding a comparison of the DiamondTouch table to touch-based consumer electronics, Bogue added, “Broad acceptance of multi-touch smartphones and now tablets sets the stage for growth in larger displays and tabletop computers for collaboration. As this happens, the feature of ‘multi-user’ or knowing who is who will be increasingly important, and Circle Twelve owns that space.”

The Cool Vendor report was prepared by Gartner analysts Jim Tully, Amy Teng, Alfonso Velosa, Ganesh Ramamoorthy, and Angela McIntyre, and comes with the disclaimer, “Gartner does not endorse any vendor, product or service depicted in our research publications, and does not advise technology users to select only those vendors with the highest ratings.
