CHARLOTTE, N.C.--()--As gas prices rise, there’s more to consider than the vehicles parked in the garage. Factor in outdoor power equipment such as the lawn mower, and the escalating monthly gas budget may mean fewer meals out. For 54 million Americans that mow their lawn each weekend, that’s a lot of fuel and expense.

There’s a better way and one that requires no gas or oil. Battery-powered lawn mowers such as those from WORX® are friendly to the environment and neighborhood. These silent running machines go about the task with little fanfare. There’s no gas tank to fill, primer bulb to push or pull cord to strain a shoulder. Just squeeze the handle and go.

According to the EPA, each year, American homeowners spill 17 million gallons of fuel from outdoor power equipment. That’s more volume than the oil spilled by the Exxon Valdez in Alaska.

WORX has bridged the gap between gas and battery-powered mowers with a new technology called IntelliCut™. IntelliCut is a torque-on-demand system that monitors torque versus cutting performance in real time. No more bogging down when mowing tall or thick grass. Homeowners simply set the dial to Power when conditions call for more torque or Quiet for everyday conditions

There’s a WORX IntelliCut mower for nearly every yard size. These mowers feature decks from 14 to 19 in. and will cut lawns from 10,000 sq. ft. to 18,000 sq. ft. (the equivalent of six tennis courts). on a single battery charge. The Pacesetter model is self-propelled, automatically adjusting its pace to the homeowner‘s walking speed.

The mowers are powered by a 24 or 36-volt lead acid battery, similar to one used in a car. The battery is removable, so you can leave your mower outside and charge your battery inside. Just drop it in the mower when charged and you are ready to go.

Standard equipment on the WORX IntelliCut mowers includes one battery and charger, mulching blade, mulch insert, rear or side-discharge chute and grass bag. When not in use, the mowers collapse to a space-saving size.

WORX mowers range from $219 to $499 and are available at www.worxyardtools.com as well as retailers such as Lowe’s, Menard’s and amazon.com.
