Utility Trailer Manufacturing Achieves Record-Breaking Safety Milestone

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif.--()--Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company, the industry’s largest manufacturer of refrigerated trailers and a leading manufacturer of dry freight vans, flatbeds, and Tautliner® curtainsided trailers, is pleased to announce that its Marion, Virginia manufacturing facility has achieved over 2 million hours without a single lost time accident.

Each of Utility’s manufacturing facilities has a fully-staffed Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Department, which has helped Utility take a proactive approach in implementing strict safety practices which go beyond standard compliance with regulations. “The accomplishment of 2 million hours without a lost time accident is the result of the effort of every employee being cognizant of their own personal well-being everyday,” commented EHS Manager, Dan Potts. “Without the outstanding safety education and training resources offered by Utility as well as the great work ethic of our committed employees, we would have not been able to achieve such an important milestone,” added Brad Starkey, Plant Manager.

Utility currently operates five trailer manufacturing facilities across the United States. In addition to the Marion location, the Clearfield, Utah facility manufactures Utility’s #1 selling refrigerated trailer. Utility dry vans are manufactured in Glade Spring, Virginia, and Paragould, Arkansas. Utility also has a facility in Enterprise, Alabama that manufactures flatbeds and Tautliners®. Over the past few years, the company has nearly tripled its EHS personnel for each of their manufacturing facilities, and all have achieved reductions in accident rates.
