Beginning Sunday, Nov. 20, Kohl’s customers can preview the company’s “Happy Thanksaving Days” print ad on Kohls.com, revealing unprecedented value with more than 500 Early Bird specials, compared to more than 400 last year. Kohls.com customers can purchase these Early Bird specials, and all items featured for the Happy Thanksaving Days event, starting on Thanksgiving Day. For the first time ever, all shoppers have the opportunity to earn $15 Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent, with no earn limit, from Wednesday, Nov. 23 through Sunday, Nov. 27, which can be used toward a future purchase with no brand exclusions.

Holiday Hiring

In October, as part of a planned two-phased approach, Kohl’s announced its first phase of seasonal hiring, including an average of 35 associates per store at its 1,127 stores in 49 states this holiday period. With the recently revealed extended store hours for the day after Thanksgiving, Kohl’s is pleased to share the second phase of our hiring, which will bring the total anticipated holiday hiring to an average of 40 associates per store. In total, Kohl’s anticipates hiring more than 47,000 seasonal associates at stores, distribution centers and customer service centers for the holiday season, an increase of nearly 18 percent from last year.

Happy Thanksaving Days Marketing and Media Support

Kohl’s will support its Happy Thanksaving Days sale through aggressive marketing, including broadcast, online, print and mobile advertising, enhancements to Kohls.com, direct mail, email outreach and public relations. The multi-channel marketing campaign is designed to reach customers from their computers and mobile phones to their mailbox and in store.

  • Television and Radio - Television and radio spots to promote Kohl’s after Thanksgiving Day offerings begin Sunday, Nov. 20. The company will continue to be aggressive in its radio support in top markets the week of Thanksgiving. Kohl’s radio efforts will again include DJ integration with popular national radio personalities including John Tesh, Lia and Ryan Seacrest.

    Leveraging the theme of a popular YouTube! video sensation, Kohl’s “Black Friday” broadcast spot, airing Thanksgiving week, will entertain viewers as they prepare for their own Black Friday shopping experience. The ad features an eager Black Friday shopper showcasing her shopping savvy at Kohl’s on Black Friday.
  • Online and Print Advertising - On Sunday, Nov. 20, Kohl’s Happy Thanksaving Days sale is previewed on Kohls.com, four days before the ad runs in newspapers on Thanksgiving Day. Kohls.com will feature the company’s entire Happy Thanksaving Days sale ad, with more than 500 incredible Early Bird savings opportunities, compared to more than 400 Early Bird specials last year.

    Visitors to Kohls.com can view after Thanksgiving Day offers and map out their shopping strategies by using the interactive list builder tool to build a customized list that includes product images and pricing. Users can view and post customer ratings and reviews on products. Customers can pull product offers to create and print personalized shopping lists. Kohls.com shoppers can enjoy customer ratings and reviews, an expanded gift shop in the online “Store+More” and enhanced sort functionality for easy shopping.

    On Tuesday, Nov. 22, Kohl’s will drive traffic to stores and Kohls.com with an advertising roadblock on major websites such as AOL, MSN and Yahoo! Kohl’s will also use the company’s Facebook fan page, with more than 6 million Kohl’s fans, and Twitter to promote after Thanksgiving Day sale efforts.

    Kohl’s will also reach customers with YouTube Mobile Roadblocks the day after Thanksgiving and targeted mobile banner ads and mobile text ads throughout the holiday season. New this year, the company will also provide event teasers and friend invites on Facebook; targeted ads on lifestyle, entertainment and shopping websites; and smart phone promotions about the After Thanksaving Days specials available on Thanksgiving Day.
  • Direct Mail - Illustrating the added benefits that Kohl’s Charge card customers receive during the holiday season and throughout the year, Kohl’s offers its charge card customers Pick-Your-Day offers that customers can use in store or online from Nov. 17 to 22.
