F.W. Webb Company Makes Historic Move in Boston, Opens State-of-the-Art Warehouse and Showroom

The family company with a legacy deeply rooted in Boston makes a leap toward the future

BEDFORD, Mass.--()--A mainstay on the Green Monster and a fabric of Boston’s history, F.W. Webb Company, the largest plumbing and heating distributor in New England and New York, announced today the opening of a new 50,000 square foot wholesale supply store and retail bath showroom in Boston. The retail showroom, Frank Webb’s Bath Center, will be the company’s first in the city of Boston and will offer a new resource for designers, architects, contractors and Bostonians.

With roots that go back to 1866, F.W. Webb’s new Boston location represents the moving of a landmark. In the early 1900s the F.W. Webb headquarters was on Columbus Avenue until 1968 when the company built its new headquarters in Burlington, Mass. F.W. Webb renewed its presence in Boston in the 1970s with the acquisition of Atlantic Pipe and Supply at the current location in the city at 237 Albany Street. Now, with the new facility on Dorchester Avenue, F.W. Webb is tripling the size of its Boston footprint while shrinking its carbon foot-print, once again changing the downtown landscape with a forward-thinking, one-of-a-kind structure. The green design of the building includes an array of solar panels on the roof and a geothermal unit for its heating and cooling needs.

“We take a lot of pride in our contribution to the city of Boston. Over the past century and a half, if there was a building being built in Boston, it was likely that F.W. Webb was involved,” said Jeff Pope, president of F.W. Webb Company. “Some of the more memorable projects where F.W. Webb supplied materials are Fenway Park, Quincy Market, The Boston Garden, the Big Dig, the Prudential and the Hancock Tower, Deer Island water treatment plant, and the Boston Harbor cleanup project. Today, we are pleased to offer our own cutting-edge facility to the city, providing a very small carbon foot-print with the latest in green building design. We believe that our Boston customers will share our excitement.”

The new F.W. Webb location was also built with an open-concept design that allows wholesale trade customers to browse merchandise. “We are very excited about the new open-concept layout as it allows for more efficient service for our customers,” said Tom Blades, general manager of the F.W. Webb Boston location. “Our customers are now able to view and select merchandise rather than waiting for a sales clerk to track down items in the warehouse. And, in addition to our core industrial PVF, and plumbing and heating supplies now stocked in our current Boston location, the new supply store will also carry HVAC controls, and refrigeration and fire protection products, providing our customers with more of what they need for any job.”

The first Frank Webb’s Bath Center in the city of Boston, the modern showroom will feature a broad range of bathroom and kitchen displays and premium product lines including Toto, Hansgrohe, and American Standard. A wall of fully functioning shower heads and faucets offers customers the opportunity to experience and evaluate water flow before making a purchase. From tubs to towel bars, the Frank Webb's Bath Center specialists will help homeowners take the guesswork out of their construction or remodeling projects and even connect them with a recommended contractor.

Conveniently located off of route I-93, the new F.W. Webb wholesale supply store will open its doors on November 21st and Frank Webb’s Bath Center will open by the end of the year offering ample free parking for customers.
