NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Hyve Solutions, a division of SYNNEX Corporation (NYSE: SNX), a leading distributor of IT products and services, today announced at the Open Compute Summit in New York City, that the company will provide early samples and discounted units of the latest Open Compute Project (OCP) server products. OCP was launched in April 2011, as a way of sharing innovative server and datacenter designs with the rest of the IT community. This unique solution allows for more energy and cost efficient datacenters.
“We have seen a dramatic uptick in interest in open hardware platforms since the launch of the Open Compute Project earlier this year. Custom solutions were once limited to a small number of customers deploying very large-scale datacenters. OCP demystified the custom datacenter and made it much more accessible to a wider customer base,” stated Steve Ichinaga, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Hyve Solutions at SYNNEX Corporation.
As part of the OCP community, Hyve Solutions’ charter is to provide a new model to customize and purchase these highly efficient solutions. Customers are allowed an easy and efficient way to purchase fully integrated solutions coupled with “vanity free” pricing and customizable services. One of Hyve Solutions’ key goals is to get OCP sample units into the test labs and datacenters of interested companies as early in the product lifecycle as possible. Hyve Solutions’ stringent stress testing and rack integration "know-how" is a key benefit to those interested in implementing an OCP solution within their datacenter.
“We’re excited to see Hyve Solutions investing in a new business model designed to bring customizable, vanity-free OCP solutions to the broader community,” said Frank Frankovsky, one of the founders of the Open Compute Project. “Hyve Solutions has been one of the leading members of the Open Compute Project, and they have the experience to enable the broader industry to adopt and deploy OCP technology with confidence."
OCP 2.0 is being offered with future Intel® Xeon® processor E5 family with up to 8C and 16 threads and support for Intel® Advanced Vector Extensions, Intel® Trusted Execution Technology, and Intel® AES New Instructions.
