The Lanyards Store and Sobergrads.org Lead Fight Against Underage Drinking

ALHAMBRA, Calif.--()--Lanyardstore.com, a company that prints custom lanyards and ID products, is determined to bring the underage drinking issue to the forefront of concerns for high schools throughout the nation. The company has just become the premier sponsor of Sobergrads.org, a nonprofit organization that rewards schools for their anti-substance abuse efforts. The concept behind the Sober Grads program is simple: Students can log in, register their school and pledge their sobriety during major high school events. Schools that show high levels of participation will be awarded prizes by national sponsors such as The Lanyards Store, or other local sponsors contacted by students.

Several years ago, The Lanyards Store created a lanyard donation program for nonprofit organizations called “The Million Lanyard Give,” in which the company donated lanyards, neck wallets and pet collars to organizations such as schools, animal shelters and youth organizations. David Wu, manager of the company, mentions that the company continues to seek new ways to further its community outreach. “We’re always looking for ways to help out, so we thought Sober Grads was a perfect match for us.”

The Lanyards Store plans to donate custom lanyards, neck wallets and other identification products useful to schools. Wu states that it doesn’t want to award items just during the major events. “Schools can use the items in a number of different ways,” he explains. “Although most of our products can be used for general identification and security during school functions, they can also be used to advertise a fundraiser or event.”

Wu hopes the Sober Grads program will incentivize students and faculty to make the drinking and driving message a top priority throughout the school year. “Each year brings a new crop of kids, so the message must be repeated,” says Wu. “Keeping our kids alive and safe should never get old or cliché.”

Students can register their school and pledge their sobriety by visiting Sobergrads.org. Companies can learn more about sponsorship opportunities by visiting the site.
