ASHBURN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The U.S. Marine Corps has awarded Telos® Corporation a contract to sustain its organizational messaging system, the Defense Messaging System (DMS). The service fielded Telos’ Automated Message Handling System (AMHS), the application that implements the message handling portion of the DMS, at its locations worldwide in 2007.
Telos will provide technical, analytical and specialty engineering support to the Marine Corps’ DMS program at six Area Control Centers (ACCs) located in the United States and overseas. The contract runs for an eight-month base period with two option years and is valued at more than $3 million if all options are exercised.
“The support that Telos provides will assure reliable, on-site operations of AMHS at each ACC,” said Mike Masters, vice president of Secure Messaging Solutions for Telos. “We will provide the technical expertise required to sustain AMHS functionality and continuity of remote network operations for software, hardware, applications and training requirements.
“Our goal is to work with the Marines to sustain what has been fielded while helping them to find and implement more efficient, less costly methods of official information exchange,” Masters said.
Telos’ secure messaging system, AMHS, has been deployed across DOD to support all formal government message traffic including legacy systems. It allowed the department to take advantage of the power of the standard browser from a variety of manufacturers in a web-centric architecture and marked a turning point in the way in which the DMS program was being implemented. AMHS has continued to add features that are reflective of new information exchange concepts while maintaining the reliability and security features that are critical to the DOD mission.
