TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sovello Canada Inc., a subsidiary of the solar module manufacturer Sovello Germany, is pleased to announce the signing of a multi-year contract with Celestica, a global leader in the delivery of end-to-end product lifecycle solutions, to manufacture solar modules with a total volume of 167MWp. This agreement provides Sovello Canada with the ability to supply high-quality solar modules that meet the Province of Ontario’s domestic content requirements. The first shipments are expected to commence in Q1 2011.
"We take pride in our reputation for maintaining superior quality and delivering exceptional value,” says Jan Dressel, Managing Director of Sovello Canada Inc. “By working with Celestica we will be able to deliver high-quality products that fulfill Ontario’s domestic content requirements. We look forward to working with Celestica to positively contribute to Ontario's clean energy economy."
Recognizing the strong potential of the progressive Ontario FIT (Feed In Tariff) program, Dr. Ted Scheidegger, CEO of the Sovello Group says, “This Program will make a difference for the development of renewable energy in North America.”
Sovello demonstrates commitment to its strategic manufacturing alliance with Celestica by transferring valuable experience to the emerging solar industry in Ontario and backing the quality of the products with rigorous German engineering and quality control standards.
“We look forward to leveraging our expertise in green technology and enabling Sovello to meet the demand for new energy-generation alternatives in Ontario,” says Mike Andrade, Senior Vice President, Diversified Markets, Celestica.
Sovello is an integrated manufacturer of solar wafers, solar cells and solar modules. By means of the so-called photovoltaic effect solar modules transform sun light into electricity. One of the key differentiators of Sovello’s high-performance quality products vs. traditional multi crystalline modules is the resource friendly production process and short energy pay-back time.
Sovello operates three production plants in Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany. The first plant, SV1, started production in June 2006. In June 2007, the second production facility, SV2, came online. With SV3, the third plant recently finished, Sovello's nominal production capacity has reached about 180 Megawattpeak (MWp). Sovello AG employs about 1,250 people in Bitterfeld-Wolfen. With the launch of Sovello Projects and Sovello Canada in 2010, Sovello has expanded its scope to promising international markets.
