Nugent as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO). A respected and highly accomplished software industry veteran, Nugent brings more than 30 years of experience in strategic management and innovation to Mzinga’s executive leadership team and board of directors.
As CEO, Nugent will drive the company’s strategic vision for social intelligence initiatives, guide its long-term technology vision and research & development strategies, and manage customer acquisition, growth and day-to-day operations to ensure Mzinga’s continued success. Nugent’s appointment as CEO comes as the culmination of his work over the past year as a trusted advisor to the company and his expertise with meeting the needs of global enterprise customers.

Alan F. Nugent’s Background
Prior to joining Mzinga, Nugent served as executive vice president and CTO at CA Technologies (www.ca.com), where he drove the strategic technology direction and delivery of the entire CA product portfolio. Earlier in his career, Nugent was senior vice president and CTO of Novell (www.novell.com), where he led the company’s moves into open source and identity-driven computing solutions. Prior to Novell, he was senior vice president, CTO, and CIO at MunichRe/American Re; senior vice president and CTO at Xerox Corporation; and chief technologist and software architect for BellSouth Corporation. During the 1980s, Nugent founded three successful technology startups. He began his career at Hewlett-Packard Company.
Today, Nugent is a member of several advisor/industry boards and is the independent member of the board of directors of Adaptive Computing in Provo, UT. He is a frequent writer and speaker on technology and its impact on business and society. In his spare time, he is an avid instrument-rated private pilot, restores older American muscle cars, and rides and builds custom motorcycles; he has also played competitive poker for more than two decades.
Nugent will be based in Mzinga’s corporate headquarters in Waltham, MA.
