LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gigaset Communications, one of the world's largest manufacturers of cordless telephones and an innovator in the development of Interference Free DECT technology, today announced from the 2011 Consumer Electronic Show the latest evolution of hybrid VoIP/PSTN DECT telephone from Gigaset Communications.
Building upon the success of the widely popular Gigaset A580 IP and S675 IP, the C610A IP features enhancements such as four parallel active calls (3 VoIP and 1 PSTN), three built-in answering machines, SIP URI dialing support, POP3S email access, downgrade-able firmware, and configuration file support. Another new feature on the C610A IP is the ability to interact with people using Facebook and Twitter right from the handset.
The C610A IP supports a room monitoring function where upon detecting a noise, the handset dials another extension or a pre-determined phone number. The system supports High-Definition Sound Performance (HDSP) using the G.722 CODEC to deliver brilliant quality audio. Up to six VoIP accounts and six DECT handset registrations can be configured on the system. The VoIP accounts are user configurable as to which handset or handsets can access them.
“Gigaset Communications continues to listen to the VoIP community,” said Tony Stankus, Gigaset Product and Marketing Director. “With the debut of the new C610A IP, we have acted on their input to deliver a product to the market that addresses their needs with the entirely new platform.”
The C610A IP’s embedded Connection Assistant allows a user to select a country then a VoIP provider to automatically download the common VoIP and SIP settings for that provider. Then, they only have to enter their corresponding username and password to activate their service. This feature is open to any VoIP provider and their service settings can be added to the Connection Assistant at no charge. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more details. Additionally, a MAC address provisioning scheme allows for VoIP providers to ship a C610A IP to an end user where all they have to do is plug in the telephone to be up and running – everything, including user credentials, are downloaded automatically. As always, local web browser configuration is available for manual configuration.
The C610H handset that comes with the C610A IP system has a generous 1.8-inch color display and a standard 2.5mm headset jack. It has storage for up to 150 phone numbers. The system can be expanded to include six handsets using additional C610H handsets (available in black or white), or any of the SL400, S79H or SL78H models.
The Gigaset C610A IP will be available starting in March of 2011 with a MSRP of $119.99.
