NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pacific Life announced today that Julia S. Gouw, President and Chief Operating Officer of East West Bank, has been elected to the boards of Pacific Mutual Holding Company and Pacific LifeCorp, the parent companies of Pacific Life Insurance Company.
Ms. Gouw joined the Pasadena, California-based East West Bank in 1989 as Vice President and Controller and was appointed to her current position in 2009. She has overall responsibility for East West Bank’s operations, including finance, treasury, investor relations, enterprise risk management, credit administration, deposit and loan operations, and information technology. East West Bank is a full-service commercial bank that offers business and personal banking services and is one of the largest financial institutions in the United States that focuses on the Chinese-American community.1 During her time at the bank, it has grown from $400 million in total assets to $20 billion and net earnings have grown from over $1 million to over $160 million. It is now considered one of the Top 50 Banks in the nation2 with offices in multiple states throughout the United States as well as in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
Beyond her work at East West Bank, Ms. Gouw is actively involved in the community by serving on the boards of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, John Wayne Cancer Institute, The UCLA Foundation, and as Trustee of Saint John’s Health Center Foundation. In addition, she is actively involved with the Carter Center, Iris Cantor UCLA Women’s Health Center, and the United Way of Greater Los Angeles. Ms. Gouw is a graduate of the University of Illinois.
