Murad Art Auction Event Raises $25k For Local and National Charities

EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--()--Last week, Howard Murad M.D., founder of Murad, Inc., hosted “The Art of Giving: An Inclusive Charitable Event,” which raised over $25,000 for local and national charities. At the event, community leaders, art aficionados and the local community previewed and purchased 30 works of art created and donated by Murad himself, with all proceeds benefiting the charity of the buyer’s choice.

Over 70 local and national charities registered for the event, held at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, with winning bids going to Tree Musketeers, Richstone Family Center, Susan G. Komen Foundation OC Chapter, charity: water, JFS Chaverim, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Los Angeles, Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, Take Me Home, CEW Foundation Cancer and Careers, Friends of the Parks, among others.

In addition to live and silent auction bidding, Dr. Murad donated a piece of his artwork to be raffled with proceeds going to the OneHope Foundation. The OneHope Foundation’s mission is to create real lasting hope and change for a better future by supporting the planet, the troops, the fight against autism, the fight against AIDS and the fight against breast cancer.

Steven A. Napolitano, Deputy LA County Supervisor, presented a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the County of Los Angeles to Dr. Murad at the event, acknowledging his philanthropic contributions at The Art of Giving as well as his ongoing pro-bono medical work at local hospitals and children’s organizations.

For more than 30 years, Dr. Murad has been offering medical care free of charge to the children at the Vista Del Mar Childcare Center and to members of the armed forces at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Westwood. His extensive and wide-ranging financial support for community organizations includes funding for after-school programs, environmental awareness, marine science education, and scholarships administered through Big Brothers and Sisters of Los Angeles. This was his first charity art event.
