Netezza Announces Mantra Vault Appliance

Netezza combines predictive analytics and data auditing to meet the compliance and security needs of large enterprises

MARLBOROUGH, Mass.--()--Netezza Corporation (NYSE: NZ), the global leader in data warehouse, analytic and monitoring appliances, today announced the Netezza® Mantra® Vault™ appliance, a purpose-built solution designed to address predictive data risk analytics.

The Netezza Mantra Vault appliance is the first solution to offer predictive data risk analytics by analyzing long-term transactional data activity cost-effectively and simply across thousands of databases. The Mantra Vault extends the capabilities of DAM (Data Activity Monitoring) products that typically allowed enterprises to monitor real-time, short-term activity in their databases. Predictive data risk analytics enables large enterprises to effectively gain long-term visibility, insight and an unprecedented level of strategic risk assessment of transactional activity in their datacenters.

With general availability expected in the first quarter of 2011, the Mantra Vault is built on Netezza’s popular TwinFin™ data warehouse appliance platform and leverages Netezza Mantra’s patented rules language for policy-based analytics. The Netezza Mantra Vault appliance complements current-generation DAM products and provides critically needed capabilities of multi-year audit data retention, predictive analytics, and reporting.

“Database auditing needs to extend across the entire enterprise and go beyond reactive decision making,” said Nigel Stanley, Security Practice Leader, Bloor Research. “Predictive data risk analytics solutions are necessary to proactively secure the data assets of large enterprises.”

“Netezza recognizes that large enterprises have the unique challenge of not only storing large amounts of audit data, but also analyzing all of that data to meet compliance, privacy, and security requirements,” said Jim Baum, president & CEO, Netezza. “Our announcement of the Mantra Vault appliance demonstrates our commitment to develop a new series of specialized solution-oriented analytic appliances that leverage Netezza’s industry-leading data warehouse platform.”

The Netezza Mantra Vault is fully compatible with Netezza Mantra appliances and meets the needs of data owners, compliance officers, and security officers of large enterprises, by delivering:

  • Multi-year online compliance data retention, compliance and security reporting, and forensic activity analysis
  • Predictive analytics to recognize patterns of inappropriate or threatening behavior that could put critical data, systems, or the organizational reputation at risk
  • An open architecture to augment the collection of traditional DAM data with related data that enables more robust analytics
