LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TMC today announced that Alvarion’s Corporate Vice President, Dr. Mohammad Shakouri, has been added to the list of keynote presenters at the 4G Wireless Evolution Conference, taking place at ITEXPO on October 4-6, 2010 in the Los Angeles Convention Center. This session, scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 9:00 a.m., will discuss 4G broadband services for differentiated market segments.
"I'm excited to be a keynote presenter at this year's conference, focusing on the topic of 4G broadband services for differentiated market segments," said Dr. Mohammad Shakouri, corporate vice president for Alvarion. "Attendees will walk away understanding how to leverage both 4G technologies - WiMAX and LTE - to address the large unmet demand for broadband services for multiple market segments such as vertical markets, rural and underserved broadband and mobile Internet applications."
An industry visionary and well-known expert in the field, Dr. Shakouri serves on Alvarion's executive management team as corporate vice president for innovation and marketing. In addition, he serves in several prominent roles in the industry, such as vice president of the WiMAX Forum, and he is a member of the WiMAX Forum Board of Directors.
Instrumental in growing WiMAX into a multi-billion dollar industry and having expanded the WiMAX Forum's global reach, Shakouri is considered to be the leading voice for the WiMAX industry. In addition to his industry leadership position with the WiMAX Forum, he also serves on the advisory board for the Wireless Communication Alliance and is an IEEE MTT-SVC 2004 chairman.
Prior to joining Alvarion, he was responsible for developing and managing network solutions in European and South American broadband wireless markets for Lucent Technologies. Before Lucent, he spent 14 years in technical and management positions with Hewlett Packard, developing microwave and fiber optic communication components and systems. He co-founded the wireless systems division, where he was responsible for the engineering team developing low-cost residential digital wireless systems for U.S. and Asian markets. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University on Subpicosecond GaAs Wafer Probe Systems.
"Having Dr. Shakouri, one of the leading authorities on worldwide wireless deployments, speak gives us the benefit of perspective at this year’s show," said Carl Ford, co–founder, 4G Wireless Evolution. "His leadership in the WiMAX Forum and his role at Alvarion gives us the advantage of understanding not just the market today, but how the future will blend all 4G wireless infrastructure to deliver our massively mobile future."
Now in its fourth iteration, the expanded 4GWE conference explores the trends driving a shift towards an anywhere, anytime, broadband mobile network. The event focuses on the evolution to a 4G infrastructure and the mobile broadband applications that it will enable. As part of ITEXPO, 4GWE has become the industry’s premier gathering place for Mobile Network Operators, fixed carriers, handset manufacturers, mobile internet device manufacturers, application providers, and venture capitalists.
