Celeno to Power Liberty Global’s Multimedia Home Gateway with Carrier-Grade Wi-Fi

Celeno helps to revolutionize cable operator’s home networking architecture with wireless streaming of HD video to set top boxes and portable devices

AMSTERDAM--()--Celeno Communications, a leading provider of semiconductors for multimedia Wi-Fi home networking applications, today announced that Liberty Global, Inc. (“Liberty Global”) (NASDAQ: LBTYA, LBTYB, LBTYK) ─ the leading international cable operator ─ has selected Celeno’s Wi-Fi solution to power its multimedia home gateway product, announced earlier this year.

With today’s announcement, Celeno is helping to revolutionize home networks by enabling the multimedia home gateway to distribute rich video content to additional screens in the home ─ wirelessly.

The multimedia home gateway leverages both Wi-Fi and DLNA, allowing wireless streaming to other client devices in the home. Consumers will enjoy locating set-top boxes flexibly, breaking free from coax locations. This architecture is also easy enough for consumers to self- install, which leads to a cost-effective operation.

“For cable operators, providing streaming video content beyond traditional set-top boxes is no longer just an option, it’s mandatory,” said Colin Dixon, Senior Partner at the Diffusion Group. “Carrier-grade Wi-Fi solutions such as Celeno’s are now essential to cable operators as customers increasingly expect multi-media delivery to wireless devices, anywhere in the home.”
