SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Benihana Inc., the nation’s largest chain of Japanese and sushi restaurants, has reached the 1 million photo mark using PhotoTouch, a turnkey photo-marketing solution that combines photographs and social networking.
Installed less than two years ago in 71 locations around the U.S., the PhotoTouch system provides Benihana with an effective way to engage their guests by providing them with a branded, high-quality print photograph that also drives guests online to share and download digital versions. In addition to handing out 1 million branded photos, more than 800,000 people have logged into the Benihana website to view their photos and download or share them via social networks.
“Benihana is known as a destination for celebrations, whether it’s a birthday, an anniversary or receiving an A on a test, and people dine with us for this celebratory, fun-filled experience,” said Jeannie Means, Benihana’s senior director of marketing. “Our guests enjoy receiving a photograph that captures the moments they are celebrating. Thanks to PhotoTouch, we are able to provide printed and digital photos, which we see as a great enhancement to the overall Benihana experience.”
The PhotoTouch system uses a digital camera to capture an image, which is wirelessly transmitted to a computer. The custom software then automatically adds the Benihana logo, creates a username and unique password, prints the image and uploads it to the Internet. This capability allows Benihana to offer hard-copy photos to guests, while also inviting them to go online to view, print and share the images with friends and family. Since the photo login area is housed at www.Benihana.com, PhotoTouch also helps to drive traffic to the company’s website.
“PhotoTouch provides a fun and cost-effective way for restaurants and other companies to engage their customers both online and off,” said Tim Justice, PhotoTouch’s president. “The system is designed to provide brands with a custom giveaway that also supports data acquisition and social media efforts. Companies are able to easily capture customer contact information and further engage customers by offering coupons, surveys and opt-ins to affinity clubs.”
According to Means, Benihana sees the system as a success, specifically in the areas of operations, guest experience and marketing. By incorporating the photo login area on the existing Benihana website, the PhotoTouch system has helped drive people to interact with the brand online and has increased the ability for Benihana to communicate with customers through e-mail promotions, creating a stronger relationship with guests who visit the restaurant.
