Hothand Wireless Sees Major Growth with New Mobile Marketing Patent

MISSION VIEJO, Calif.--()--Hothand, Inc. was recently awarded a major patent for location-based mobile advertising. Mobile marketing and mobile advertising are hot growth areas and the battleground for some of the largest companies in the world.

John Gaffney wrote in DigiDay, “One of the potentially biggest stories in mobile marketing may be coming out of San Diego, not Silicon Valley. Hothand Inc. last week was awarded a patent for search, location services and mobile advertising all in one package on mobile devices.”

“The patent’s claims are pretty broad,” said Michael Van Loy, attorney. “It is basically centered around the method for getting an advertiser to target ads to users that are interested in that advertiser and also it’s about getting a consumer local to your point of sale.” Van Loy added, “The patent could also apply to an opt-in system that allows consumers to avoid being bombarded with spam while being rewarded with money saving offers in exchange for agreeing to receive ads that are well-targeted both to their current interests and location.”

Unique Approach to Mobile Marketing

Hothand always believed that texting would be popular but limited. How many messages does a person want to receive each day? Hothand’s unique approach:

  • Is always available but never intrusive.
  • Presents a categorized virtual shopping network based upon the consumer’s interest and location.
  • Gives consumers access to countless merchants when they are ready to buy.
  • Creates incentive for repeated use by including ad space for promotions such as mobile coupons.
  • Can represent millions of merchants simultaneously creating almost unlimited revenue potential.

Hothand Merchant Network

Hothand is building merchant networks at university communities across the nation. This is the #1 demographic and a great way to create a national footprint with a local focus. Randy Jaramillo, President of Hothand, said, “We have seen others try and fail with a more generalized national approach. We are creating a large network of local communities first.”

Partners & Licensing

With the news of its patent Hothand has already been approached by several entities. The company is confident this will lead to significant licensing agreements and partnerships. Jaramillo added, “We realize how important intellectual property is in creating standardized adoption and facilitating innovation. These are exciting times.”
